Free pages vs paid pages

Most established creators run two accounts on purpose. Knowing what each one is for tells you where your money should go — and where it shouldn’t.

The two-account setup is now standard, and it confuses new subscribers constantly. Someone finds a free page, subscribes, sees content, and assumes that is the offer. Then the pay-per-view messages start and it feels like a bait and switch. It isn’t — it is simply a different business model from the one they assumed.

What a free page is for

A free page is a storefront. The subscription costs nothing, which means the creator monetises it through pay-per-view messages, tips, and by driving traffic to the paid page. The content is real, but the economics require selling inside the inbox. Expect messages.

What a paid page is for

A paid page front-loads the transaction. You pay monthly, and in exchange the feed is the product. Well-run paid pages sell far less aggressively in messages, because the subscription already covers the creator’s time. Some sell nothing extra at all.

Which one you want

If you…You wantBecause
Want to sample before committingThe free pageZero cost, and it shows you their real posting cadence.
Want a predictable monthly billThe paid pageOne charge, feed included, far less inbox selling.
Only want specific custom contentThe free pageYou pay for exactly what you request, nothing recurring.
Hate being sold toThe paid pageThe pay-per-view pressure lives on free pages.

The trap in the middle

The expensive mistake is subscribing to a free page, spending steadily on pay-per-view messages, and ending the month having paid several times what the creator’s paid page costs. If you find yourself buying unlocks regularly from a free page, check whether the same creator runs a paid one. Very often the paid subscription is the cheaper way to get what you were already buying piecemeal.

Rule of thumb: free page for sampling and one-off custom requests; paid page for anything you intend to keep up for more than a month.
